ALLIED HEALTH
Nurturing growth through affordable therapy
Therapy works – but only if you can access it. At Grow Health and Therapy Hub, we’re focused on supporting families any way we can. And we know from experience that for many families, there are barriers to accessing therapy, whether that’s appointment availability, the impact on the family budget, or the exhaustion that comes from rushing from place to place.
That’s where our Allied Health Assistant comes in.
Our Allied Health Assistant works under supervision of our Speech Pathologist, Child Psychologist and Occupational Therapist to deliver your therapy program.
Here's how it works
Plan Development
You and your child will meet with your primary therapist for your assessment, diagnosis and plan development. Usually, this is one or two sessions with our Speech Pathologist, Child Psychologist or Occupational Therapist
Collaboration
As part of the Assessment process, your Therapist will collaborate with you and your child to create your detailed therapy plan. Your program includes key goals and milestones.
Program Delivery
Then, our Allied Health Assistant will deliver the program, delivering your therapy under the close guidance of your primary practitioner. They’ll report back after each session, so your treating therapist is kept up to date.
6 Week Check Ins
Every six weeks, you’ll have a check-in appointment with your treating therapist to review your progress and update your goals.
Why work with an Allied Health Assistant?
More affordable
As a qualified allied health professional, Allied Health Assistants are covered under the NDIS and Thriving Kids. As their fees are lower, you can access more sessions without exhausting your budget.
Consistent therapist
If your child or teen receives support in multiple areas, all their therapy plans can be delivered by their experienced Allied Health Assistant. This continuity of care can be a huge benefit for some children.
Appointment availability
Before and after school appointments are in high demand. Working with our Allied Health Assistant means it’s easier to find a time that suits your schedule, so there’s less juggling.
Looking for support in your home?
We understand that sometimes children feel safest in their own space. If you’re interested in a home or community visit, please reach out and get in touch.
FAQs
Common questions about Allied Health Assistants
Do I need to see an Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist or Child Psychologist at Grow Health and Therapy Hub to work with the Allied Health Assistant?
Yes – to see our Allied Health Assistant, you will need to be assessed and have a therapy plan set by one of our therapists. Our Allied Health Assistant provides support for our occupational therapy, speech therapy and child psychology providers.
How often will my child’s plan be reviewed?
Typically, our therapists like to review clients every six weeks or six sessions. This may vary depending on your needs, but regular check-ins allow us to keep track of your progress and make any adjustments.
Can the Allied Health Assistant make recommendations or assessments?
No, our Allied Health Assistants are responsible for implementing a therapy plan set by our therapists. They are unable to develop therapy plans or make assessments. They will report back on how therapy is progressing, and consult with your therapist about any concerns.
How is my child’s progress reviewed?
After a session, your Allied Health Assistant will report back to your therapist. This may be through notes on your file, or through regular consultations. Your Allied Health Assistant will let you know when it’s time to schedule a formal review.
Can I choose to see my primary therapist more frequently?
Absolutely. If you’d prefer your therapy to be with your Occupational Therapist, Speech Pathologist or Child Psychologist, that’s completely fine. We’re happy with whatever suits you best.
