Child Psychologist
Nurturing growing minds
At Grow Health and Therapy Hub, our dedicated Child Psychologist is here to support your child or adolescent. Amy Capp, our Registered Psychologist, focuses on a range of concerns that can impact the day-to-day lives of children and young people, including anxiety, autism, ADHD, learning and emotional regulation. We provide children and teens the compassionate, understanding support they need to thrive when their emotions, behaviours or learning abilities are stopping them from feeling their best at home or at school.
With a focus on making assessments accessible for families, we offer diagnosis packages to help facilitate NDIS and Thriving Kids funding and enable you to access support that improves life for your child and your family
Meet your Child Psychologist
Our therapists are more than professionals. They are compassionate guides on your family’s journey.
About Catherine
I am a registered psychologist and board-approved supervising psychologist, with additional training and experience in play therapy. Over the past 18 years, I’ve had the privilege of supporting children, young people, families, and fellow allied health professionals, which continues to inspire me every day.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in neuroscience, attachment theory, family systems, and trauma-informed practice. I’m passionate about providing inclusive, collaborative, and neuro-affirming support. For younger children, I use play as a developmentally attuned pathway to help them build confidence and express themselves in ways that feel natural and safe. For teens and adults, I offer individually tailored therapy that helps them feel heard, validated, and truly understood.
Assessments
Our assessment process includes a comprehensive report that goes beyond a functional diagnosis. We include practical recommendations for home and school support and NDIS funding. Our Registered Psychologist, Amy Capp, is highly experienced in NDIS assessments and report writing for funding applications.
We routinely assess children and teenagers for autism, ADHD, cognitive functioning, learning difficulties and emotional or behavioural concerns. We use gold-standard tools, including the ADOS-2, cognitive testing, and adaptive behaviour measures, alongside targeted therapy and consultation with schools and daycare.
Therapy
Therapy with a Registered Psychologist is an effective tool to help children and young people to improve their emotional regulation, address anxiety and worry, manage behaviour and support their emotional skills.
At Grow Health and Therapy Hub, we offer sessions in the clinic or through Telehealth. Funding is available through the NDIS, Thriving Kids or Medicare, with a Mental Health Care Plan. Private clients are also welcome, and may be able to access rebates through their private health insurance.
Child Psychologist Fees
Medicare rebates are available for sessions with our psychologist. You will need to obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan from your GP, paediatrician or psychiatrist. This will give you access to six Medicare-funded visits. After these sessions, your referring doctor will need to review to assess your progress and determine whether an additional four sessions are needed.

FAQs
Common questions about Child Psychologists
Do you offer assessment only packages?
We can offer Assessment packages to support you to access NDIS or Thriving Kids funding for your child. Depending on your child’s needs, we may recommend ongoing therapy or other support services.
Do I need a referral to access a child psychologist?
No, your child doesn’t need a referral to book an appointment. However, if you’d like to access a Medicare rebate, NDIS or Thriving Kids, you’ll need a referral.
Your GP can refer you for a Mental Health Care Plan, which offers up to 10 rebated sessions per year. For children with complex neurodevelopmental diagnoses, you can access up to four rebated assessment sessions. Your paediatrician or psychiatrist will need to write this referral.
Do you accept NDIS and Kids Thriving funding?
Absolutely. If you have an existing NDIS plan, and your visit relates to functional needs, capacity building or plan goals, we can support you. We also accept funding through the Kids Thriving program.
Of course, life gets busy, so we know it’s not always possible to find the time to practice as much as you might like, and that’s totally fine.
What ages do you accept?
We work with children aged between 3 and 16 years. Our approach is tailored to their developmental needs.
How long does the assessment process take?
All children are unique, and the assessment process varies accordingly. However, it typically takes between two to four sessions, as well as time for a comprehensive report. We’ll outline these timeframes during your initial consultation so there are no surprises.
